A weekend with J & M at Callala Beach. We drove down on Friday late afternoon and went straight to Hyam's Beach Cafe for dinner. The food wasn't a patch on what it had been last January - I think the Sydney chef who moonlights there on his hols isn't there any longer and has taught them 5 dishes, which is all they can do. We were early so walked on the sand and took photos.
After dinner we drove back through the park to the highway, then around to Callala Beach. Lots of wine with J & M then a lovely sleep.
Very hot today, around 38C. We lazed around, as J had an early kayak lesson. Then J and I drove to Berry to the sausage shop, where we bought about 6 kilos of their amazingly wonderful sausages. Then back to Greenwell Point for a small shared fish and chips at DJ's Takeaway, then back for lovely Huskisson pies that J bought back from her kayak lesson. As it was so hot we spent the day in and out of the water, and I ended up being quite burnt by the end of the day. Viking steaks and salad of home grown lettuces and tomatoes, lots of lovely wine again!!!
Not as warm, and we awoke to a flat tyre!! The spare on the Golf is a 'temporary spare' and is half the size of a normal tyre. J changed the tyre while M and I had a swim. Then we went off to the Olive OIl and Egg Farm and got - olive oil and eggs!! And lovely small tomatoes and fresh corn. We left Callala Beach soon afterwards and stopped for fresh cherries from Young at the roadside stall at Pyree.
Finally home, sunburn stinging. Lots of after sun-cream tonight!!
Here are lots of images of Callala Beach!
