As promised, I re-visited Revolver with The Chocolate Freak. He had been bribed with an offer of the Guatemalan Hot Chocolate. He did indeed have this, and pronounced it very chocolatey (in his opinion 54%) and very sweet - which was a bit of a letdown for him as he likes his chocolate bitter. Perhaps next time we can ask for no sugar.
I had a pot of tea, and as I am a rabid tea-ophile I ordered it very strong. They complied (just a tiny bit too much water for the amount of leaves, but still the best I have had yet).
The Chocolate Freak ordered the hot cakes, which I had seen on my last visit but not tasted. They were puffy, filling and a very generous serve.
The hotcakes were covered in a berry sauce with a heaping serve of whipped maple ricotta butter on top. He could only eat one so I gracefully offered to help him - after I had eaten my own brekkie!
The Big Breakfast, which I had, is a frypan filled with home-made baked beans (lovely and tangy), on which 2 eggs have been baked. Bacon, a pork sausage, a baked tomato and some mushrooms are also added, making it a generous serve indeed. On the side is a slice of toasted sourdough and a small bowl of mint, parsley and corinder salsa for spreading on the toast. Very yummy indeed.
We've decided we'll be back to sample some more of the interesting menu items. After all, there's eggs benedict, house smoked trout, a chicken burger, persian beef -- lots of exciting and (probably) tasty meals yet to be sampled.
Rating: 4.5 slices of toast.
